Maybe our baseball team will have a turnaround this season too :)Here’s hoping! But to be quite honest, unless they win the SEC or CWS you won’t be hearing too much about the Baseball team from this particular blog hahaha.
I apologize sincerely for the lack of attention I’ve given this blog. With work and school, it’s been a lot but from now on I won’t be the only one running things around here so we can get everything back on track.
Unfortunately, the football season didn’t go as planned. A ridiculous amount of injuries(16 season ending injuries) coupled with bad play caused the Gators to go 4-8, one of the worst turn arounds in college football history after going 11-2 last year.
I assume there will be a new offensive coordinator next year, so it’s possible to see life on the offensive side of the ball without getting rid of one of the best defensive minds in the country in Head Coach Will Muschamp, who will be the coach next season after Florida Athletic Director Jeremy Foley confirmed he will still be here for a second time just before the game today.

For those who don’t know, the Gators Basketball season has started today vs the University of North Florida (UNF) and the first half just concluded with the Gators up 37-31.
The big story coming into the game is the suspensions of 3 key players to the team, Point Guard Scottie Wilbekin (Sr.), Forward Dorian Finney-Smith (R.So.) and Center Damontre Harris (R.Jr.), for unspecified violations of team rules (the last two were transfers who are now eligible to play after being forced to wait a year because of NCAA rules).
The latest story to develop is Sophomore Guard Michael Frazier II contracting Mono a couple of weeks ago and was questionable coming into the game.
The opening half was a good one for about 15 minutes. Florida started off the game 15-15 from the free throw line, Senior Forward Casey Prather set a career high 17 points, and the defense is forcing turnovers. The only reason the Ospreys are in the game is because of a 16-4 run at the end of the half which is thanks to a lot of 3’s starting to fall for UNF, and the lack of height and strength(and good basketball by the Gators…) that was on the floor to close the half which allowed UNF to get more rebounds and get good looks at second chance points.
Several things to look for that the half:
With the Gators going 0 for 3 from behind the 3 point line, it is putting a streak of 725 games (that dates all the way back to 1992) that the Gators have hit a 3 on the line. (Stats courtesy of Thomas Goldkamp, Gatorbait.net)
Freshman Point Guard Kasey Hill is great on the fast break, and hopefully we can see the young man throw up some lobs or even slam it down himself.
Fan-favorite Jacob Kurtz, a former walk-on now scholarship player, has 4 points and 5 rebounds(career high). He’s seeing a ton of minutes due to the suspensions of DFS and Harris, but he’s playing solid basketball, especially when asked to guard guys with 3-5 inches of height on him.
I hope everyone will forgive my absence as of late, I recently got a job and they’ve been working me crazy hours and I haven’t had the opportunity to post much.
